| Corrosion of steel in concrete is a major concern. The use of alternate, non-corrosive reinforcement such as fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) bars and tendons has, therefore, received much attention lately. There is limited information, however, with respect to the use of two-dimensional (2-D) FRP grids as reinforcement in thin overlays, topping slabs and slabs-on-grade. The present research proposes a feasibility study to optimize the application of FRP grids as reinforcement in such applications. The deliverables of such study are the development of guidelines on recommended construction practice. |
