BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Korany is a visiting scholar from Ontario Canada where he earned his PhD degree in Structural Engineering from McMaster University. His PhD project and recent research are in the area of rehabilitation of unreinforced masonry for enhanced seismic resistance using unobtrusive FRP techniques. Presently, he is taking up a 2-year Post-doctoral Fellowship award, granted from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, at CIES. His current research interests include the use of Advanced Composite Materials in structural rehabilitation and blast resistance. Dr. Korany is the co-author of the 3rd edition of the Canadian textbook on masonry structures “Masonry Design – for Engineers and Architects”. He authored and co-authored more than 35 refereed journal and conference publications. He is the recipient of numerous academic and research awards, most recently the pest paper award in masonry innovation and construction from the 10th Canadian Masonry Symposium. He has over 10 years of industrial experience and is a registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario. He also is an active member of several professional societies and technical committees.
